Blizzard ’09 – Report 1

So it’s been snowing for about 24 hours now.

That’s a lot of snow in case your wondering.

Started about 10pm last night, and I actually saw some of the first flake fall as I left my house to head into downtown Baltimore for a friend’s 21st birthday party.

People were still out, but wow, was it quiet down there. Almost bizarre feeling.

It started sticking right away, which should have been a good indication that this was gonna be a mega storm. And mega storm it was.

Actually is. It still is a mega storm, because it still hasn’t stopped snowing.

Last night as we headed home around 2 a.m. we followed many salt truck convoys trying to keep snow from sticking on major highways, but it wasn’t really working. Wasn’t bad, bad mind you, but it wasn’t good either.

Today it just keeps snowing. Wind too.

This was our dog out on the deck about 11 a.m. today. She sought shelter under the table where it wasn’t so deep. Let’s just say, she wasn’t bred for this kind of weather.

She despises of it. In turn, she tries to get rid of it by eating all of it in her path.

As of about 3 p.m. today, it was hitting under her chin.

Good luck eating all that snow, Holly.

Our last major snowfall was in 2003, when we broke the record, President’s Day weekend, with 28.5″ of snow.

I don’t think we are going to break another record again, but we are going to get within the top 5 for sure. As well as set the record for most snowfall in the month of December.

It’s actually not even officially winter yet. I just thought of that.

So what’s this they say about global warming?
