About Me

Hi, I’m Morgan. I’m married to Tommy and we’re both 26. We’re high school sweethearts and love a good adventure of any kind. I’m a 4th grade teacher and he’s a civil engineer. We love God.

We like doing things ourselves, plain and simple. I’ve learned that it’s usually the harder way to do things, but the satisfaction cannot be beat. We do everything from renovate houses (as in down the studs, new electric, plumbing, everything), repair and rebuild our cars, raise and grow our own food, we even make our own alcohol (yay for homebrew). I enjoy sewing and photography, and also am working on my certification in herbalism. I cook from scratch and our home has a bit of an “open door” policy, meaning anyone and everyone is welcome at anytime, and I’ll even feed you. We are a gathering place for friends and family and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Travel is also high on our priority list and within our first year of marriage, we managed to stamp into six different countries on two trips. We travel with only backpacking backpacks and a limited budget and plan to continue to do so, even once kids come along. If you’re interested in traveling to Costa Rica, Panama (Bocas del Toro region), China (Beijing), Thailand (Bangkok), Cambodia, or Vietnam, please drop us a line.

In this fast-paced, materialism-driven world, we strive to get back to our roots and a simpler way of living. Why? Because we’ve tasted and seen that it’s a more enjoyable way to live life.

  1. I like the way you think, I’m with you in homeschooling, coloring, and hating folding clothes.
btw, i’m gonna add you to my blogroll 🙂

  2. Hi Morgan,

Great blog I must say and you write about some pretty interesting topics. LOL folding clothes can be a pain sometimes and I can see your point on hanging your clothes up.

Yup I have a sheltie named Shep, I know real original. Holly looks beautiful. I love shelties even though they might get confused with collies. LOL

    Keep up the great work!

  3. Hi,
I was comforted by your site. Can you help me with mine. I have a wedding blog. My header needs work. I would like to add a few pics and words with links to mine but am clueless as to how to do it.

    Please advise.

  4. That’s awesome! I was also homeschooled 2-12 and there were three of us kids! I now homeschool my children. I have five of them 6months up to 8 years old… they keep me busy! Oh, and to me, you’re YOUNG! Blessings, maybe I’ll stop in once in awhile and see what you’re blogging about.

  5. I commented here before, but I don’t care!

Just like beyondtheoutside, I like the way you think too! You have a very lovely site. Keep up the good work. This site has great potential in it, I can easily tell!

  6. Great, sincere blog. My husband & I weren’t homeschooled, but we homeschool our 4 children, ages 5, 7, 9 & 10. I couldn’t see doing it any other way.

It’s really nice to come across your blog. Stay sweet!
